Origin

Founded in the spring of 2020 in peak UK lockdown, Statistica was born out of a combination of ideas:

• An enjoyment of maps and the information they convey
• A distinct lack of minimalist maps designed for wall decoration

The amalgamation of these ideas was Statistica's first poster, the world bathymetry map. Where most maps focus on the land, we separated ourselves from the crowd and went straight for the seas.

Design and Manufacture Process

All of our posters are designed in house in the UK - we do not sell externally sourced designs. Our first step is to brainstorm a new map idea. Once we have an idea, we curate the relevant GIS data, and drop it into GIS software. The software can then be used to analyse and process the data into a new map design. We then have the design printed and packed, ready to be shipped for our customers.

What is GIS?

A Geographical Information System is a piece of software that can interpret, analyse and display spatial or geographical data, or data that has a position/location in a reference plain assigned to it. Our designers have a cumulative six years working with GIS and other design software.
